Living in an apartment sometimes feels like
you only have space enough for yourself. There are times you might feel lonely,
so you’re thinking, “Should I get a pet? If I do, will there be space enough
for him/her?”

The answer is yes. There are certain pets
that are perfect for apartment living. In fact, PetMD.com  gives us a list of pets that you might like

Cats

Cats are independent
little creatures. They don’t need to be walked outside and can easily be
contented with an indoor-style living. All you need to do is to provide them
with enough opportunities to play and exercise, like leaving them toys they can
play with even when they are alone.

Dogs (depending on the size)

Some dogs are too big and
too energetic for apartments. However, there are many breeds that will be
perfectly happy and healthy in a small apartment. Pugs, Shih Tzus, Chihuahuas,
Bichon Frise, and some others are fine in a small space, although will need to
be walked regularly throughout the day to stretch their legs.

Reptiles

Reptiles don’t take much
living space in the house. They can be placed in their glass cages for their entire
lifetime. Commonly domesticated reptiles include snakes, turtles, tortoises,
and lizards such as geckos and chameleons.

Fish

Keeping fish in your
apartment can be good for you. Watching fish swim around in an aquarium has
been known to be therapeutic and can lower blood pressure and stress in adults.
In kids, it has been shown to improve hyperactivity disorders. Even Alzheimer’s
patients who watched aquariums had improved appetites, required less
medication, and had reduced violent outbursts. Taking care of fish require
several considerations like checking pH levels, ammonia and nitrate/nitrite
levels, water hardness, and alkalinity.
